I'm delighted to say that my installation work [De]Constructed Cloth has been selected for the new 62 Group exhibition, 'CONSTRUCT' at Sunny Bank Mills gallery.
It was an ambitious piece of work to make. Nine metres of cloth; printed, dyed, over-printed and deconstructed. The work involved many layers of imagery and process, making and unmaking.
"Hannah makes connections between the heritage of cloth production and present day textile manufacturing, creating complex, layered and deconstructed imagery, presented in sculptural form. The changing fortunes of West Yorkshire’s textile industry, have been represented by prints of unpicked cloth fragments and waste fibres from local weaving mills."
It's a real privilege to show this work at Sunny Bank Mill, which was the starting point for the work. I have exhibited here several times before but showing work alongside some of the best textile artists in the UK (and overseas), is a real treat. Work by Caroline Bartlett, Richard McVetis, Debbie Lyddon, Nigel Cheney, Tilleke Schwarz, Caren Garfen, Jane McKeating, Isobel Currie... and so many more.
