Black & blue

Yesterday we found a gorgeous quiet beach (there are so many to choose from) with lots of lovely treasure. There seemed to be a strange quality to the natural minerals on a small patch of the beach that turns things black (look at the black bone). I wonder what that might do to cloth? I really wish I had brought some cloth with me. Sometimes though it's just good to feel the sand between your toes and go for a swim instead... a different way of immersing yourself in the environment.

I am having a few lazy days away in Northumberland, but I hope everyone is having a good time at Saltaire Festival. I am very much looking forward to opening the door of my new studio next weekend, and hoping to see some familiar faces.
