"Ctrl/Shift takes shifts and changes as its theme, in particular it is centred on artists whose practice is or has transformed, in small or large ways, especially towards expressions of innovation in textile art. These shifts may be around changing attitudes to control; the introduction of new materials and techniques; and/or the impact of innovative ideas and evolving technologies."

My own work, made specially for the exhibition, is titled 'The Sampling Project' and comprises a series of small textile sample panels inspired by archival materials and Japanese katagami stencils. The exhibition brief was a great opportunity to explore ideas in response to visits I made over the last couple of years to a textile archive in Roubaix, France. It was also a the perfect excuse I needed for testing out dye, print and embroidery processes that have intrigued me for a while.
Alongside the main exhibition, visitors will be able to view the 'Project Space', to gain an insight into the working processes, techniques and approaches of the artists in the exhibition. You will be able to view sketchbooks (including my own), and short films that shed light on the back story of the work on show.
