A visit to York and York Minster. Thinking about the gothic architecture of churches and cathedrals and the relationship to woodland 'architecture'. Up lifting, inspiring, hushed; it feels rather like a grove of trees.

Hi Hannah.... You've just reminded me of something I was looking at recently. Your idea about woodland architecture is apparently something which David Hockney was trying to create with his latest large scale tree paintings. He made them enormous because he wants the viewer to be in awe of their presence, to look up into them & feel the majesty of looking up into a real tree ('Bigger Trees near Warter' 2007 was one such work). You may already be familiar with this...
